About the position

The Rates & Collections Officer will ensure the accurate calculation and levying of rates and charges and the administration of land values. The role will also collect on designated outstanding accounts, maintains good customer relations with Council Rate Payers and effectively solves problems in an effort to resolve account delinquency and prevent losses.

About you

This is a permanent part-time role (21 hours per week) with a salary range of $33,310.70 - $39,189.37 based on demonstrated competencies, plus 9.5% superannuation. To be successful in this role you must possess:

  • Certificate III in Business Administration &/or 3+ years experience in a direct customer contact, service, collections or sales environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of billing systems and ability to maintain a billing database
  • Understanding of accounting transactions that occur with issuance and adjustment of rates notices
  • Basic account principles knowledge with demonstrated ability to reconcile subsidiary ledgers with appointed general ledger number
  • Demonstrated intermediate competence in computer operations including spreadsheets, GIS systems and databases and competence in the use of Microsoft Office Software (or equivalent)
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse community with strong conflict resolution skills
  • Experience in any position with high level problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Previous collections experience.
  • Current NSW Drivers License
