You will provide strategic and operational leadership, governance and direction for midwifery and nursing services for the Women’s and Babies’ Division. Working in partnership with the Clinical Director Women’s and Babies’ Division, you will accept accountability for the governance and practice standards of Midwives and Nurses, the development and effectiveness of systems to support, the evaluation and consistent improvement of midwifery and nursing practice and healthy work environments, and the cost effective provision of health services within your span of appointment. As an advanced practitioner, you will also provide corporate management and professional midwifery and nursing advice, leadership, and management for the Women’s and Babies’ Division. The Women's and Children's Hospital (WCH) provides state of the art health care for women and children in Adelaide and South Australia. It is South Australia’s leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions and SA’s largest maternity and obstetric service. It also provides important community-based services. Each year, more than 30,000 people are admitted and about 5,000 babies are born at the hospital. In addition more than 250,000 people come to the hospital as outpatients annually.

 

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. Demonstrating a broad range of nursing experience and competence in accordance with appropriate standards of practice, you will possess effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation. These skills will equip you to foster a work environment that develops staff potential and facilitates creativity and innovation.
