In this leadership role, you will be responsible for the provision of a high quality multidisciplinary pathology service and the maximising of market share for the regional SA Pathology laboratory in Victor Harbor. You will provide scientific input for staff development and supervision, and will be expected to participate in the development of new test methods, routine bench work and the efficient management of the human, financial and material resources of the laboratory. You will also provide a major liaison function to hospitals and key clients within the service provided by the regional laboratory. SA Pathology provides quality diagnostic pathology services to the South Australian community, as well as support for training and medical research, through our state-wide laboratory network. Our 19 laboratories are distributed throughout South Australia’s metropolitan and regional hospitals and are supported by more than 55 conveniently located patient collection centres.

 

You will hold a Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or an equivalent qualification accepted as suitable for full professional membership of an appropriate professional society. In addition, you will have experience in the performance of routine and complex diagnostic pathology tests in at least two of the diagnostic disciplines of Haematology, Transfusion, Biochemistry or Microbiology. Your supervisory experience will be evident in your ability to implement changes to workflow and employ sound contingency management principles in response to demanding situations. You will need to reside within 30 minutes of the laboratory for after-hours on-call response.
