About the business & role

The Aged & Disability Services team is committed to providing high quality, flexible and responsive services to over 5,000 peninsula residents who are older or living with a disability so that we can support them to live safely, actively and independently in their own home.

 

This role will offer the right candidate the opportunity to act as an integral part of the Community Transport Team helping isolated residents to remain active within their community. 

Job Tasks & Responsibilities

You will:

  • Provide excellent customer service to all clients and carers using the Community Transport program and understand the safety implications of transporting older people and people with a disability 
  • Operate a passenger vehicle in a safe and professional manner
  • Follow legislative and regulatory requirements related to driving passenger vehicles, including daily vehicle checks

 Skills & Experience

  • Commitment to the rights of older people and people with disabilities to maintain independence in the community
  • Knowledge of Transport Safety Victoria requirements to ensure daily vehicle checks are undertaken in an appropriate manner and reported to the Team Leader Community Transport as required
  • Hold a valid Driver’s Licence with a minimum Medium Rigid endorsement (mandatory) and have the ability to operate passenger vehicles in a safe and professional manner, with knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements related to driving passenger vehicles
  • Understanding of the safety implications of transporting older people and people with a disability
  • Experience in a similar or related role with the ability to use correct manual handling techniques to load and store mobility aids
  • You will have an Employer Working with Children Check (mandatory)
  • You will be prepared to undertake an Australian Criminal History Check, and complete an Overseas Police Check Statutory Declaration (mandatory)
