Sodexo are looking for Prison Custodial Officers to contribute to the safe, secure and efficient operation of the new women’s Melaleuca Remand and Reintegration Facility based in Canning Vale, Perth.
About the Role:
Prison Custodial Officers are integral to the effective day to day operations of the facility and your primary purpose is to ensure the safety of everyone, whilst supporting culturally appropriate and ethical rehabilitation services to help prisoners successfully reintegrate back into the community and reduce their risks of re-offending.
This role plays a key part in the rehabilitation process by helping prisoners address the issues that are relevant to their offending behaviours by acting as role models, to motivate and encourage people and put structure into their lives.
Successful applicants will be provided with a comprehensive 10 week training period to ensure you are fully equipped with the skills and experience required to succeed in your new role.
About You:
The position will suit highly passionate and resilient individuals who are committed to the safety, security and wellbeing of prisoners, visitors and colleagues. Ideally experience working within a custodial environment would be highly regarded but we would also seek interest from those applicants who have a solid understanding of the importance of security, personal safety and spatial awareness. You will be someone who is able to adapt to changing working scenarios and show resilience whilst working under pressure.
To be successful in this role you must be comfortable working in an environment that has frequent daily contact with prisoners as this role will see you working closely with them, therefore, your ability to build rapport easily and communicate effectively, using a non-judgmental and compassionate approach is critical and will contribute to your success in this role.
