An exciting opportunity exists within our Planning & Development team for a Building Certifier. Reporting to the Manager, Building & Plumbing, we are looking for an experienced individual to ensure that building applications are approved in accordance with the Building Act, Building regulations, National Construction Code (NCC) and the Planning Act (PA).
As the Building Certifier you will be responsible for;
- Assess and inspect buildings and structures in accordance with the Building Act and Regulations.
- Process applications and correspondence relating to the duties of a Building Certifier.
- Assist with counter and phone enquiries regarding building related functions.
- Assist in maintaining a professional image and positive attitude within Council’s Planning and Development department.
With the necessary experience and qualifications you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high attention to detail and accuracy. You will be an excellent team contributor and motivated to complete tasks on time.
Essential
- Manual “C” Class drivers licence.
- Licenced as a Building Certifier Level 3 with the QBCC or Accredited as a Level 3 with the AIBS or RICS (or working towards achieving same)
Desirable
- Licenced (or eligible within 6 months registration) as a Building Certifer Level 2 with the QBCC or Accredited as a Level 2 with the AIBS or RICS.
- Minimum three (3) years building certification experience.
- Proven experience in Local government or Private Building Surveying/Certification Practice.
- Eligibility for registration with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission as a Swimming Pool Safety Inspector.
- Eligibility for membership to the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors or RICS.
