This large, metropolitan council have an exciting opportunity for a Community Laws/ Local Laws Officer to assist their busy team. This opportunity is a 3 month contract in the first instance, but with a view for longer term opportunities.

Officers are required to enforce council bylaws and legislation pertaining to issues or permits surrounding overhanging vegetation, litter prevention, footpath trading & nuisance complaints, etc. This council is focused on education and customer service, so strong stakeholder engagement skills will be key. The role can offer some flexible working, including early morning starts & overtime may be required. 
 
If you have experience within the field and hold a Cert IV in Local Government Compliance, you will be looked upon favouarbly, as you will bring your thorough knowledge of legislation to the role. Candidates will similar experience within a community facing role will also be considered.  You will have the facility to educate the community on their rights and responsibilities towards local laws legislation, and promote understanding and corporation, therefore the successful candidate with have excellent verbal and written communication and be able to management their time effectively. 
 
This role is varied and will suit someone who is flexible and who can work autonomously as well as part of a team. Candidates must have a full clean drivers license.
