Austal is an Australian shipbuilder and global defence prime contractor which designs constructs and sustains some of the world’s most advanced commercial and defence vessels.
We are currently looking for a suitably experienced and motivated individual to join our Design Department as an Electrical Designer at our Henderson Operation.
This position is responsible to support the electrical design of a vessel from concept through to delivery, on time and on budget.
The ideal candidate should possess the following attributes and experience:
- Electrician’s Licence.
- Experience in Electrical Design elements of ships (preferably Aluminium).
- Knowledge of regulatory body Rules and Regulations requirements
- Solid understanding of production methods and the practical application of design
- Understanding of LV and ELV Power generation and distribution
- Demonstrated ability to understand the customer needs, think laterally, and solve technical challenges within typical build timeframes
- Competent in the use of AutoCAD and Microsoft office, PLC and SCADA programming
- The ability to successfully coordinate planning, organisation and implementation of engineering projects
- Good technical writing capability
This position will best suit an enthusiastic designer who provides high quality and accurate work whilst taking ownership over tasks performed personally.
