This can only be made possible with great people and the right organisational structure.  A high level review of our organisational structure has recently been undertaken, identifying the requirement for a highly talented and experienced Structural Engineer to join the team.

Reporting to our Engineering and Maintenance Manager and working as part of a small team, the successful candidate will be integral in helping to drive the department forward. They will be required to review and manage the development of the Next Generation Crushing Plants to ensure units are fit for purpose and that all continuous improvements are documented and implemented into future projects.

Based in Perth, this role will require an effective communicator who is both strategic and hands-on and can engage effectively with individuals and teams across a diverse organisation.


Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Must have formal qualification in structural engineering and be able sign off on structural designs.
  • Design and draw modification & improvements in existing plant.
  • Develop and manage document on improvement of existing.
  • Document Change Management process for modification & improvements.
  • Carry out structural audit.
  • Compile with all Statutory regulations for structural designs.
  • Support & give technical engineering advice to site operation.
  • Liaison between Construction draftsman’s and Operations personnel to ensure plant modifications & improvements are fit for purpose.
  • Review operating & maintenance strategies and methodologies for plant modifications & improvements and ensure these are incorporated into design.
  • Review lessons learned from existing and new plants design to ensure items are captured and implemented into future projects and other existing projects of similar design.
  • Review operation and performance with operations and maintenance and identify any improvements or cost savings. 
  • Update drawing and maintain document control of all modification & improvements made.
  • Projects – As directed by Maintenance & Engineering Manager.
  • Inspection & report on condition of Plants during modification & improvement stage.
  • Collecting and developing information for statutory maintenance and engineering requirements for classified plant.
  • Weekly reports at direction of the Maintenance & Engineering Manager.
  • Manage the design process from concept to final construction drawing on modification & improvements & rectification of projects.
  • Developing cost analysis for modification & improvements & rectification work on projects.


Key Skills Required:

  • Structural Engineering Degree is a must.
  • 5 – 10 years’ experience in the mining industry.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of Mines Act & Regulation.
  • Knowledge of mining equipment and relevant Australian standards.
  • Experience with conducting HAZOPS and HAZID sessions for the mining industry.
  • Experience and skills associated with technical report writing and writing of plans and procedures.
  • Knowledge of mining equipment and relevant Australian standards.
  • Experience in structural design and improving plant performance.
  • Experience with developing and maintaining project schedules.
  • Project management skills.
  • Time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work with multiple discipline projects.
  • Decision making ability and leadership skills.
  • Experience in engineering programs: Auto Cad, Navis Works (3D Modelling), Solid Works (Engineering simulation), Advance Steel (Nastran & Robot) Space Gas (Calculation Program).
