Principal Engineer- Ports & Maritime

Cardno is seeking an experienced Maritime or Bridge Engineer. The role will support a specialist national team who undertake maritime structures design, port master planning, channel and navaid design, dredge design and supervision, asset management, feasibility studies, equipment specification and commissioning, operations review, due diligence, contract administration and project management.
 
This role can be based in either our Sydney or Brisbane offices, with flexible working arrangements, and is a fantastic opportunity for someone wanting to join a progressive global organisation with a great team culture.
 
The job will offer the successful applicant a high variety of opportunities including international aid projects, greenfield port developments, field inspections in Australia and abroad and the opportunity to work for some of the largest Port authorities in Australia and the Pacific.
 

Specifically, your duties will include:

• Manage all elements of the project lifecycle, preparing proposals, presenting to clients, and ensure resources and budgets are effectively
• Effectively work across a multidisciplinary environment, ensuring collaboration between business units, lead a team of engineers, and conduct high profile International Investigations
• A core focus on Stakeholder Liaison and Business Development, the ability to foster and further develop relationships with both existing and perspective clients
• Develop, design, and facilitate the documentation of maritime structural solutions to a range of Projects across APAC
• International travel within Australasia to conduct high level feasibility studies
• Act as a Detailed analysis and recommendations for a range of port projects
• Preparation of designs and drawings, specifications, data, calculations and reports

 
In order to be successful for this role you will possess:

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering
• Experience in maritime structures design and/or bridge structures design
• Core skills including structural analysis, design and detailing
• Proficiency in structural analysis packages such as Microstran, SpaceGas, StaadPro or similar
• Finite Element Analysis skills will be looked upon favourably
• Strong familiarity in steel, concrete and timber design including knowledge of AS1170, AS1720, AS3600 and AS4100
• Familiarity with AS4997, BS6349 and the USACE Coastal Engineering Manual is highly desirable
• Strong interpersonal skills to liaise positively with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of innovative client solutions
• Collaborative skills to share your technical expertise with your team
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
