Our Dynamic Earth Solutions team is a Hatch global practice providing Dynamic Earth Solutions engineering design expertise to Hatch's commodity-based business units. Our capability spans through the whole project lifecycle, comprising scoping, conceptual design, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, basic and detailed engineering, construction and project management.

Our tight knit Brisbane Dynamic Earth Solutions team is currently seeking a Surface Water Hydrology Engineer to join the group and assist with current and exciting future project requirements and opportunities. In this role, you will be asked to prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications, data sheets and reports for both front end planning studies and the detailed engineering phase for multi-disciplinary projects.

The Surface Water Hydrology Engineer is responsible for assisting with and delivering projects covering;

• Surface water management
• Water Balance and Final Void Studies in mining related projects
• Catchment hydrology
• Hydraulic flood modelling
• Hydraulic civil design

Some of the key responsibilities of your role will include:

• Planning engineering activities using Engineering Work Packages
• Preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, data sheets and reports
• Report writing and proposal preparation
• Preparing Material Take Offs/Bill of Quantities
• Reviewing and checking engineering drawings
• Providing input to engineering, operating and cost estimates
• Participating in and contributing to design reviews

Candidates with the following qualifications and experience are encouraged to apply:

• A degree in civil engineering from a recognised tertiary institution
• Safety awareness and good attitude toward safety
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Collaborative and inclusive work style
• Willingness to learn and accept feedback
• Demonstrated design experience including bulk earthworks, site grading, surface water management, access and haul roads, and earth structures
• Exposure to hydrology design packages such as GoldSim, CivilStorm, CulvertMaster
• Applicants with RPEQ and CPEng will be well regarded
• Prior experience within the industrial and mining sectors will also be highly regarded
