About the Position

The position of Marine Draftsperson/Document Controller will be Part of CSL’s design and engineering team supporting newbuilding and conversion projects, reporting to Senior Manager, Projects in Brisbane.

At a high level, key areas of responsibility are:

Design Drafting & Technical Support

• Working under guidance from senior engineers, support business development team to prepare concept arrangement drawings
• Drawings for new building and conversion projects, as well as minor modifications to existing vessels
• Support Fleet Operations to prepare drawings of vessel berthing arrangements and minor modifications to existing fleet.

Document Control

• File and log documents and drawings received from shipyards, designers, class society and equipment suppliers and issue to CSL’s technical team for review.
• Collect review comments from technical team and work with engineering manager to consolidate comments and return to document originator
• Monitor status of review comments and work with team to ensure review comments are closed within required project schedule
• Track status of design documents against master project schedule and report on engineering progress
• Maintain an efficient file management system to ensure latest document revisions are easily accessible for all team members.

To be shortlisted, you must have demonstrated experience in the marine industry in a design drafting role and have the following competencies:

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Customer service orientation; ability to manage both internal and external stakeholders
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Proactive and takes initiative where appropriate; can equally take direction or accept limits to authority, where required
• Attention to detail: in composing, typing and proofing materials
• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure: establish and work to priorities, meet deadlines, respond to multiple varying requests
• A team player: the ability to work autonomously as well as work with a wider team, to problem solve and take action to support a variety of people

Software Competency

• Autocad
• 3D modelling, Rhino 3D experience a benefit
• High level of proficiency with MS Excel
