Golder is looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to support the design services team in our Cairns office. This position will give you the opportunity to gain experience on a broad range of challenging projects and work with nationally and internationally recognised specialists in waste containment, geosynthetic material design, contaminated land, earthworks, and stormwater management.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Working within the Queensland Design Team, support waste/landfill design projects, dam designs and other multidisciplinary engineering projects throughout the region;
- Ensuring technical delivery of Civil Design projects, incorporating coordination of resources, financial management, risk and quality management
- Preparing and delivering high quality proposals, reports, documents and other deliverables for clients
- Plan, develop schedules, coordinate and direct resources on projects to meet completion deadlines
- Supervise, coordinate and review/evaluate activities carried out by junior staff
- Participating in training activities, mentoring and transferring knowledge to junior staff
- Maintaining and creating client relationships
- Providing safety leadership in identifying and alleviating/ eliminating high priority safety hazards
Skills and Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Civil/ Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent, ideally with other appropriate continuing education.
- Knowledge of geosynthetic specifications and application in landfill design.
- Ability to draw upon technical expertise of others to deliver the project outcome.
- Strong communication and influencing skills to enable delivery of client focused services to a diverse group of professionals.
- Professional with high attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and uses initiative.
- Ideally experience in working with AutoCad.
- Ability to develop client relationships, engage with clients directly.
