About the role:

Lead the definition, development, implementation, monitoring and review of strategic planning in Operations Group.  Provide business/commercial leadership within the Operations Performance Business Unit and the wider Group and will work in collaboration with the Operations Group lead team to drive Operational Excellence in accordance with the Operations Group strategy.

What the role will offer:

  • Work directly with the Manager Operations Delivery and Head of Operations Performance to determine the appropriate strategic direction for the Group, ensure this is pragmatic and able to improve performance and value, and aligns with the Operational Excellence principles and broader Corporate Strategy.
  • Diagnose strategic business needs proactively and ensure effective strategic plans and detailed actions are in place and delivered to address performance, including clear links with Operational Excellence, KPIs, budgets and MOS forecasts.
  • Develop detailed documentation of strategic plans taking into account the multiple delivery methods within the Operations Group and impacted processes. 
  • Responsible for comprehensive monitoring and reporting of actions and outcomes, and challenging the Operations Delivery Team and Operations Group Lead Team that they are focusing on the highest priority activities and delivering their agreed outcomes.
  • Support and maintain a workplace culture that is consistent with the Water Corporation’s identified mission, vision, guiding principles and values.  Behave in accordance with, and be a role model for, the Corporation's Values and ethical and integrity expectations at all times
  • Provide advice and recommendations on performance and facilitate strategies to address specific business performance issues.
  • Ensure the Lead Team are effectively engaged in strategic planning processes, actively involved in setting direction and priority of the initiatives and providing resources (when required) to deliver the agreed plan.

 Key skills and experience:

  • Degree qualified in relevant business discipline.
  • Maintaining contemporary knowledge in organisational management, people management and change management.
  • Extensive experience in field/ops based roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in a strategy environment. Includes experience in driving a strategy approach and frameworks and communicating insights effectively to drive to decisions/actions.
  • Demonstrated experience in business planning development and business performance assessment.
  • Considerable experience in the application of project and change management principles to business improvement/change projects.
  • Advanced interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Advanced facilitation skills.
