Our power generation team is expanding and we are looking for a superstar Mechanical Engineer with power generation design experience to join our group on a 12 month contract with a view to permanency.

About the role

Reporting to the Power Generation Engineering Manager, this will see you based in our busy Scoresby branch as a part of our National Power Generation team. This varied role will ensure no 2 days are ever the same. Working with a wider team of internal stakeholders and internal engineering resources through to a team of design engineers from our suppliers / consultants to bring the detail to your vision, you will own the concept design for this complex power station. Primarily gas fired, this station will be an off-grid, “island” design also incorporating solar, wind and battery technology.  

Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver engineering concept designs and systems to the highest level of engineering standards as our SME
• Build and manage design teams to deliver projects from successful concept proposals
• Manage design reviews and approve external suppliers / consultants detailed designs
• Write testing and commissioning plans in alignment with your key area of knowledge
• Support Service engineering with complex problems troubleshooting and recommends appropriate actions
• Analyse and provide advice back to stakeholders on gaps / opportunities
• Propose innovative initiatives and projects
• Support of the Cummins product review and release programs

About you

• Relevant mechanical engineering qualification (Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or higher)
• Strong electrical aptitude to complement your mechanical experience and formal qualifications
• Experience in the design and delivery of medium to major size EPCM projects
• Mid level engineering design background, with a proven track record in power generation design from a consultancy, power station, OEM or distribution network organisation
• Functional 2D AutoCAD skills
• Be able to manage multiple concepts at any given time, working to tight deadlines

We are seeking a candidate with a great track record in creating great concept designs and the ability to work collaboratively. Whilst our power stations are typically fuelled by gas or diesel, we are open to candidates coming from any type of power generation design - gas, diesel, steam, thermal, co-gen, wind or hydro power generation.
