Here at Oaky Creek Coal, Oaky North Mine, an opportunity exists for a Mechanical Engineer who strives to achieve high quality performance and results. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent (MEM), the Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the statutory compliance and management of the Life of Mine Infrastructure.


Accountabilities of this role relate to the following

• Visual leadership
• Maintain compliance with legislative and environmental requirements
• Ensure there is alignment of that mine infrastructure with the life of mine plans
• Provide technical support in the preparation of execution plans, method statements and temporary works designs, including supporting calculations to meet project specification
• Check drawings, designs, materials and equipment for conformity with project specification

The successful applicant will display the following skills and attributes:

• Tertiary qualification in engineering
• 1-5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably with a background in mining operations/mineral processing
• Proven experience in coaching, leading and developing personnel
• Ability to evaluate work practices, implement systems and suggest alternatives and refinements where necessary
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  

 

Ideally the successful candidate will possess good interpersonal and teamwork skills and also be able to successfully interpret Coal Mining Legislation, Acts and Codes.

Oaky Creek Coal is looking for a driven individual who demonstrates high levels of organisation and attention to detail. Candidates must have qualifications in Mechanical Engineering and previous industry experience

Oaky Creek Coal is supported by its local community, Tieri, which is situated 300kms west of Mackay in Queensland’s Central Highlands and less than an hour’s drive from Emerald. The town offers an exceptional standard of living and a vast array of facilities for adults and children.

Relocation assistance will be provided to the successful candidate as well as competitive remuneration (with 13% superannuation) and benefits, subsidised housing and performance bonus incentives. The position is Monday to Friday and residential, however there is flexibility to commute to and from site.
