The Commissioning Engineer will support Suez Water design-build and operations activities in Australia.  The role includes:

  • Development, implementation and optimisation of proprietary commissioning management systems for projects delivered by Suez Australia;
  • Provision of training and user support for the commissioning management system;
  • Undertaking all phases of commissioning (including pre-commissioning, wet commissioning and process commissioning), including preparation of documentation, training of operators, and completion of handover deliverables to meet Client requirements, including operations and maintenance manuals;
  • Undertaking commissioning checks and verification activities (onsite activities including equipment precommissioning testing, automation system testing, equipment and systems settings, and troubleshooting) to ensure the plant is commissioned in accordance with the Contract Specifications, Design and Contractual requirements.

Core Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Prepare the project specific commissioning management system database according to the commissioning work breakdown structure;
  • Review and assign pre-commissioning ITRs for the project specific commissioning management system database and preparation of custom ITRs and ITPs, where required;
  • Prepare commissioning procedures for all phases of commissioning;
  • Prepare wet commissioning and process commissioning ITPs and ITRs;
  • Provide commissioning management systemsupport and training to project team members that use the system;
  • Coordinate with trades and technicians to complete pre-commissioning and wet commissioning activities;
  • Sign off and verify ITPs and ITRs;
  • Complete and/or verify pre-commissioning checks to enable recommendation for components and systems to be ready for energization;
  • Complete and/or verify wet commissioning checks to enable recommendation for systems to be ready for process commissioning;
  • Complete and verify process commissioning checks in accordance with the process commissioning procedure;
  • Prepare operations and maintenance documentation to meet Client requirements, including O&M manuals, operating procedures and work instructions;
  • Prepare training plans and coordinate/deliver training of Client operations and maintenance teams;
  • Compile commissioning work packs in preparation for commissioning;
  • Complete commissioning work packs for final reporting;
  • Contribute to and prepare commissioning reports;
  • Communicate commissioning activities planned and status, and attend and contribute to project meetings;
  • For areas under commissioning team responsibility, assist in preparation of permits to work and isolations, as required.

Skills & Knowledge Required

Formal Education

  • Appropriate engineering tertiary qualifications.

Experience

  • Experience with pre-commissioning and commissioning of systems in the water industry;
  • Experience with development and implementation of the proprietary commissioning management system software for complex water/waste water treatment plants;
  • Experience in training and support for proprietary commissioning management systems software for complex water/waste water treatment plants;
  • Experience in coordinating with technicians and trades for pre-commissioning and wet commissioning activities;
  • Strong communication skills with a proven track record working within a multi discipline project team;
  • Delivery focused and quality and systems driven.

  • Demonstrates an excellent grasp of engineering and commissioning principles;
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge & understanding to commissioning activities;
  • Strong safety focused culture;

  • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks, and to adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and French;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate across multiple levels of a project organisation (workforce trades to project management);
  • Creative approach for generating new ideas;
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies;
  • Familiarity with productivity and management software, (MS Office, web-based project communications etc.).
