Senior/Specialist Technical Officer

The Specialist Technical Officer provides technical expertise, leadership and support to disciplines within departments outside of CCSM Engineering to deliver engineering products and services. The Specialist/Principal Technical Officer is responsible in the development of ILS related products for projects/configuration changes which update and improve existing electrical/electronic systems on the Collins Class Submarines.
KEY DELIVERABLES OF THE POSITION
- Achievement and application of Risk Category 4 Technical Delegation in ILS domains
- Develop and amend Navy technical manuals (ABRs)
- Develop and update the logistics configuration baseline and the illustrated parts lists for the Collins Class Submarines
- Conduct spares assessments and recommend the spares required to maintain new equipment being introduced to the configuration baseline.
- Perform processes including sequencing, integrating, interpreting, extrapolating, inferencing, and abstracting
- Completion of intermediate calculations and preparation of plans, estimates, budgets and schedules for any assigned team’s activities in support of Project Management
- Review and recommend approval updates to ABRs, Illustrated Parts Lists and the logistics configuration baseline
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Minimum of twelve years’ experience in a Senior Technical Officer or similar role.
- Advanced Diploma / Associate Degree of Engineering in relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Experience with working through integration issues with stakeholders to find acceptable solutions. This includes subcontract elements of systems engineering from requirements to verification, including safety, integrated logistics support (ILS), and change and configuration management..
- Experience within projects of a complex nature within a maintenance/shipbuilding or related heavy industry.
- Excellent knowledge of submarine philosophy (design, operation, maintenance)
- Ability to work within engineering standards including detailed knowledge and practical application of Navy Technical Regulatory System (NTRS), SUBSAFE, submarine safety and the submarine certification process
Eligibility for an Australian Defence Security Clearance and to access protected US Defence Technology will be taken into account in assessing an applicant's suitability for this role.
