The role

Due to expansion, there is an opportunity for a CAD Designer Draftsperson to join this close knit, pioneering team. Ultimately, you will be part of an innovative and dynamic design team providing 2D and 3D Designs and Drafting services delivering project solutions integrating the latest Battle Management technology into Defence Land platforms.

We work in Agile and Waterfall methodologies as the projects require working closely with mechanical and electrical integration design teams and in support to systems engineering, verification and speciality engineering. We use Solidworks and Catia CAD platforms as our design tools.

There are a diverse range of complex projects to be involved in, where your responsibilities will include:

• Hands on mechanical design
• Integration of mechanical systems into vehicle platforms
• Development of 3D CAD based mechanical design solutions
• Development of mechanical component, sub assembly and assembly drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.100, AS1100 and equivalent standards.
• Support to all aspects of developmental design, Prototype, First Article and installation builds and functional testing activities
• Contributing as a positive and effective member of the Engineering team exercising initiative and professional judgement to resolve issues and problems in a timely manor

To be successful in this role you must have:

• Tertiary qualification(s) and demonstrated relevant experience in developing and delivering complex mechanical integration designs in defence industry in 2D and 3D.
• Demonstrated experience with Solidworks and Solidworks PDM Application as an advanced user.
• NV1 security clearance or the ability to obtain it with Company support

Highly desirable skills, knowledge and abilities include:

• The ability to adapt to and manage changing project requirements
• Mechanical design experience; bracketry, enclosures and cable routing
• An understanding of Defence systems engineering within a technical regulation framework

• Experience working with multiple interfacing functional groups, including Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Communications and  E3 engineering
• Military Land operations understanding (HMI design, Human Factors aspects, C4I experience)
• •The ability to travel intra and interstate, if required

Please note: Due to the security requirements of the role, candidates must be Australian Citizens with the ability to obtain and maintain at least NV1 clearance. There is also a requirement to have ITAR designation.
