Mechanical Design Engineer

If you are a mechanical, mechatronics or structural design engineer with experience in research and design, this is one of the best career opportunities you are likely to come across.
We are currently expanding our teams in several areas to support design and development of tracked vehicle suspension and the design of a revolutionary automated load handling systems for military applications. These projects are in addition to our core business of automotive suspension and motorsport.
This is an opportunity to become a key player in a specialist design company which is well known and respected as a leader in its field.
The role will involve:
- Performing engineering analysis, design and optimisation activities in a diverse range of mechanical, mechatronic, manufacturing projects.
- Hands-on work including CAD (NX), FEA (ANSYS), prototype testing and field trials;
- Generating design concepts
- Performing system requirement reviews and generating system specifications;
- Managing the key technical project stage gates such as system requirement reviews, design reviews and prototype testing;
- Preparing technical reports, specifically for consulting projects such as design reviews, investigations of failures, concept design, feasibility studies and stress analysis;
The successful applicant will have:
- Higher level tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline;
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience.
- Experience with tracked vehicles, powered industrial vehicles and/or cranes
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
- A proven track record working effectively as part of a team;
- Exceptional and demonstrable level of mechanical aptitude.
As a Defence security clearance may be required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
