Our client is a market leader in the design, manufacture and installation of materials handling and mining equipment. With global operations and a solid reputation, they are considered world class in the engineering industry.
An exciting opportunity now exists for an experienced Mechanical Draftsperson to join the Wollongong team. Working with engineers, workshop and project managers, you will be responsible for developing technical drawings on a wide range of projects. From defined work scopes you will develop layout drawings, models development and detail drawings for fabrication purposes, in line with appropriate standards and design procedures.
Key Technical Tasks:
- Ability to innovate and simplify design to produce effective design solutions
- Ability to manage yourself and your team to achieve budgets, standards and deadlines
- Prepare general assembly drawings and designs for mechanical engineering work under the direction of senior engineers
- Working knowledge of Australian Standards AS4024, AS1100, AS1654 and AS1657
- Understanding of welding with respect to AS1554 and access requirements
- Deep understanding of drafting process and ability to check drawings to ensure compliance with specifications
- Ability to travel to site to measure existing equipment for modifications
- Develop concepts and high level designs to support tenders
- Maintain client relationships on projects and making recommendations on design and risk management decisions
To be successful you must have:
- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role, ideally in the heavy industry/ mining industry/ bulk materials handling industry
- Tertiary qualifications in Drafting or a related discipline
- Experience with Autodesk (AutoCad, Inventor, Professional Vault), MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and Navisworks Simulate
