About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Works Engineer to join our Works Team, who work with, and on behalf of, the community to prepare plans and strategies that deliver on Council’s vision of being a healthy, safe, vibrant, prosperous and sustainable community.

 This role is for a minimum of 1 day per week, but possibly up to 3 days per week on a temporary part time basis, and would suit either a graduate, someone returning to the workforce or semi-retired.  

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Support and assist the Works Manager and Works Team Leaders in the effective operation of the Works Unit;
  • Manage and deliver identified projects, and recurrent works programs.
  • Develop plans, policies and budgets.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies.
  • Provide accurate and timely advice to queries from the general public, residents and ratepayers.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will be a switched on Works Engineer.  You will enjoy working in a collaborative team and be comfortable liaising with members of the community on a range of matters.

We are also looking for someone who has experience in all or some of the following:

  • General civil engineering, building construction and maintenance
  • Supervising staff and contractors
  • Project management of infrastructure projects
  • Contract administration, contract supervision, tendering and quality assurance practices
  • Dealing with public and internal enquiries; and
  • Initiating, implementing and responding positively to change.
