The Design and Projects Department provides civil, architectural and landscape designs, advice, assessments and project management for sustainable projects for the organisation, which protect and enhance the visual amenity and natural landscape values that contribute to the City’s character. Service activities include design and documentation, work inspections, providing advice, project planning, project brief development, site assessment and evaluation, construction management and budget administration. The Design and Projects Department delivers major projects to be designed by multi-disciplinary consultant teams and implemented by external contractors. 

Council has committed to the delivery of a multi deck car parking facility and is seeking a skilled Project Coordinator to deliver that scope of work on a 2-year contract.

The Major Projects Coordinator is a key role with responsibility to oversee the development of consultancy briefs and tender documentation in accordance with the Local Government Act (1993) and Council’s procurement policies, and will also coordinate the various stakeholder inputs including Roads and Maritime Services, and utility services providers.  You will undertake works relating to car parking projects and assist in coordination and mentoring to Council’s current Project Management resources as they deliver a varied program of works in excess of $10m per year which includes CBD streetscape improvements, urban parks, major drainage culverts and waterfront infrastructure.

Essential Criteria:

• A Degree in Engineering, Architecture or Project Management
• Extensive experience in construction management or project management
• Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills
• Considerable experience in the preparation of contract documents including the knowledge of AS4000
• Demonstrated understanding of best practices in engineering and architecture
• A Class C Driver Licence

Desirable Criteria:

• Experience in Local Government
• Experience in multi-storey car parking infrastructure projects

Commencing Salary: $112,700 - $129,200 per annum commensurate with the skills, qualifications and experience of the preferred applicant.

A Vehicle Allowance is available with this position, however it is not a condition of employment.
