Due to continued business growth, Downer’s engineering division has a newly created opportunity for a Civil Design Engineer to join the Southern Region group based in our Sydney office. Reporting to the Lead Engineer and working collaboratively within a multi-discipline team, this position will provide technical engineering expertise on the civil requirements specific to our Water Infrastructure project group.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Delivery of civil designs, specific to sewer and water pipelines - Sydney Water projects
- Sydney Water Retic experience desirable
- Design of Water Infrastructure Projects – WWTPs, STPs, Pumping Stations and pipelines;
- Providing engineering expertise to resolve or to make recommendations for the resolution of technical design problems;
- To ensure all civil engineering designs comply with Downer’s company policies, procedures and standards;
- To assist in preparation of engineering reports and preliminary specifications as well as provide technical input for tender preparation as required;
- Assisting in securing and delivering water engineering projects in the region;
- Successful design management and project management of small to medium size water infrastructure projects throughout NSW;
- Conformance to all company engineering Quality and Zero Harm systems and procedures;
- Effective management of Zero Harm procedures to ensure safe operations which comply with relevant industry safety legislation and standards.
ABOUT YOU
- Relevant tertiary qualifications;
- Demonstrated design experience in Sewer and Water pipeline design (preferably in D&C environment);
- Substantial Experience working on Water Infrastructure / Network Projects;
- Sydney water project/s experience desirable;
- Sound understanding of other engineering disciplines and how they inter-relate;
- Sewer and Water Hydraulic/ Flow Modelling experience;
- Pipeline drafting experience using Autodesk Civil 3D or 12D is Desired;
- A confident communicator with the ability to interpret and translate technical information as required;
- Well organised with a track-record in meeting timeframes and working within budgets;
- Understanding of safety in design practices and processes;
- Strong work ethic and genuine passion for your craft.
