Wilmar Sugar Australia is the nation's largest sugar producer and a major provider of renewable electricity and BioEthanol. Our joint ventures, Sugar Australia and New Zealand Sugar, market a range of sugar and sweetener products under the familiar brands CSR, Chelsea and Equal.

Wilmar Sugar owns and operates eight sugar mills in North Queensland. Our mills - located in the Herbert, Burdekin, Proserpine and Plane Creek regions - operate 24/7 during the crushing season, which typically runs from June to November. Outside of the crush, our teams are involved in an intensive maintenance, capital and innovation program to ensure our sugar mills continue to be safe and reliable, and among the most efficient in the world.

Position Vacancy

We are currently seeking applications for a Project Engineer (Mechanical) to join the Asset Management team located in the Herbert Region - Ingham. The successful candidate will report directly to the Herbert Project Manager. As the Project Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring the production capability and long term viability of the assets across the two factories in the region. You will achieve this by playing a lead role in delivering operational improvements through the design and implementation of asset management strategies and tactics in the area of your responsibility.

Main duties include but are not limited to:

• Utilising your process engineering skills to identify areas to improve plant efficiency, performance and productivity
• Conception of cost effective innovative operational processes and business step outs to deliver a broader and sustainable business cost base
• Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure project parameters are adhered to and delivered within agreed time frame
• Utilise technical competence to provide advice on ways to improve operational efficiency and cost reduction
• Identify and develop improvement plans for current plant and lead implementation initiatives
• Investigate root causes for major or reoccurring issues
• Investigate, Analyse, Assess, and recommend "step out" opportunities to further improve the business profitability

*To be successful you will have: *

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant Mechanical Engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience.
• Previous experience in manufacturing operations
• Strong capability with the MS Office Suite
• Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement and safety
• Possess high level oral and written communication skills
• Previous project management experience
• SAP PS proficient

Desirable Criteria

• Demonstrated working knowledge and application of Sugar Industry Act (SIA) and Sugar Industry Code of Practice
• Previous engineering experience working with process and associated systems is highly desirable
