The CPB, Dragados and Samsung joint venture has been successful in securing the contract to deliver the $4bn WestConnex New M5 Project. The New M5 is the second major tunnel section of WestConnex and will run between the existing M5 East at Kingsgrove and new interchange at St Peters, providing improved access to the airport, South Sydney and Port Botany precincts.
With major work scheduled to commence in 2016, the project scope includes new twin tunnels that double capacity along the M5 East corridor & provide motorway access to North of Sydney Airport, a new interchange at St Peters with connections to key roads in the area, and widening of Campbell Road/Street and Euston Road Western tunnel entry and exit points at Kingsgrove.
The Role:
Reporting to an Area Manager, you will take on the responsibility for the tunnel Structure section of works, while managing a team of Project Engineers, Site Engineers and Graduates. Based on at our Arncliffe tunnel site, you will be responsible for the following:
- Project delivery according to budget, program and specific project objectives
- Coordinate site activities in conjunction with engineers and site foremen
- Prepare and update section program for both internal and external requirements
- Maintain and report actual costs compared to tender of each job at completion
- Prepare monthly reports addressing the performance of the section, areas of concern and opportunities
- Managing engineers in terms of claims, variations in time and further contractual obligations
- Ensure all project Quality Assurance, OH&S and Environmental requirements are documented and implemented
- Ensuring all works are in accordance with the applicable specifications and works are satisfactorily completed
- Represent the company to the client, independent certifier, subcontractors and the public in a professional and ethical manner and maintain the company image and reputation
About you:
- This is a site based role for a tertiary qualified Senior Project Engineer who has natural leadership capabilities and enjoys hands on management of site construction activities.
- You will have the proven ability to lead a team on a construction project across cost, programme, quality and safety requirements.
- Ideally the successful candidate will be degree qualified in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 5 years construction delivery experience/structures background
- Experience working locally on Sydney roads with RMS specification is preferred
