Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) provides Sustainment Support for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) fleet of AF/A-18A and AF/A-18B (Classic Hornet) aircraft. 

The program has an integrated Commonwealth and contractor workforce, led by Boeing Defence Australia, and is currently seeking applications for the role of Senior Technical Officer Avionics System Specialist.

The Role

The Senior Technical Officer is responsible for providing Hornet Avionics (HAV) RAM analysis, technical investigations, fault analysis and root cause investigations on the F/A-18 aircraft systems.

Engineering activities will include engineering management planning, engineering design, development, review and approval, engineering support performance reviews, and Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO) requirements satisfaction.

The Senior Technical Officer is responsible for completing daily engineering tasks in support of the Classic Hornet Weapons Platform.

Criteria

  • Certificate IV or equivalent in an avionics related discipline, satisfying the requirements for Engineering Officer (or Associate) Membership in Engineers Australia.
  • relevant experience in an engineering environment.
  • Understanding of Australian Air Publication (AAP) system and amendment procedures.
  • Ability to work successfully unsupervised and in a team environment.
  • Sound written and oral communication skills.
  • High level communication and negotiation skills to facilitate open interaction between customer support teams, repair agencies and key internal and external stakeholders.
  • ·       Classic Hornet engineering knowledge, skills & experience.
  • ·       Understanding of airworthiness standards.
  • ·       Experience in a System Program Office environment including development of engineering documents for modifications, Deviations, Special Technical Instructions and amendments to AAPs
  • ·       Experience in aircraft maintenance, repair and modification.
  • ·       Exposure to system engineering design principles and methodologies.
  • Understanding of Configuration Management principles.
  • Hold, or have ability to obtain, an Australian defence security clearance to NV1  level.
