The Hatch office in Mackay is currently looking for a Civil Project Engineer to assist with an increasing workload. The successful candidate will perform civil engineering duties including planning, designing and overseeing the construction of infrastructure such as roads, surface water drainage structures, dams and earthworks associated with mining. 

The role will be based out of our Mackay office (with travel to various Project sites as required). The successful candidate will work alongside a very experienced civil engineer to foster existing client relationships, with a key deliverable being to also generate new client relationships and work.

Hatch is seeking someone who excels in a deadline driven environment, while conducting effective analysis and making decisions from a number of alternatives.

Key Responsibilities of this role will include (but not be limited to):

• Civil engineering and design
• Drawing and specification development
• Estimate development (personnel hours, cost and quantities)
• Site Inspections and liaising with our Clients
• Provision of technical advice
• Calculations and Data analysis
• Project management, scoping and planning
• Progress monitoring and Reporting

Ideal qualifications, skills and experience for this role includes:

• Bachelor of Civil Engineering
• Strong safety awareness and values
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Solid experience in the civil engineering field with broad skills across a range of civil design and engineering areas (roads, development, mining)
• Ability to build relationships and develop business
• Proficiency in MS Office – Particularly Word and Excel
• Experience in Mine Infrastructure is essential and Main Roads Works is desired
