The Victorian Heart Hospital will be the first specialist, stand-alone heart hospital in the country. As such, this iconic project will bring together the foremost experts in international cardiovascular care, ground-breaking research and provide world-class education and training for the next generation of Australian heart specialists.

Reporting to the GM Surgery & Interventional Services, this Project Director position will be a crucial influencing role in providing strategic leadership and vision - driven by the Victorian Heart Hospital’s mission to ensure that all the project’s partners’ goals and objectives are met. This will be accomplished by:

• Developing plans to align with the strategic direction for high quality care and manage organisational support to achieve them.
• Developing a project management plan which incorporates key actions, milestones, critical decision points that work towards the strategic direction of the organization and that will achieve the timelines set by Government.
• Ensuring that the project meets the expectations of Monash Health Board, Executive, patients and partners, including preparing project reports.
• Representing Monash Health on project governance committees where required.
• Ensuring the appropriate working groups / planning teams are established to deliver against the program and ensure appropriate organisational representation on these groups.
• Overseeing the development of transition and relocation plans.

As this is a foundational position that will be driving, managing and ensuring delivery targets with multiple stakeholders, the Project Director VHH will require and need a skill-set that includes:

• More than 5 years’ experience in planning and project managing large-scale, multi-million dollar construction works – ideally in a health related space.
• Project management of a multi-industry stakeholder engagement build.
• Acute knowledge of governance within large-scale projects, including the demonstrated ability to make the right decisions during critical decision points.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Building and Construction, Administration and Management, Communications and Media.

Key characteristics to be successful in this position will include:

• Excellent interpersonal skills combined with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and colleagues from multiple levels and industries.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated experience of managing multiple partners and stakeholders during the delivery of a major project.
• Demonstrated ability to influence executive and senior management.
