About the role
Ventia’s water capabilities span the full water cycle from supply catchments and waterways to distribution. We operate and maintain desalination, potable water treatment, sewage treatment and recycle plants and associated water and sewer networks.
Ventia are supporting Yarra Valley Water in delivering their commitment to customer service and the safe delivery of sustainable water and sewerage services. On this project, we provide integrated civil, mechanical and electrical maintenance services across YVW water and sewage network.

Based in Burwood, VIC corporate office, this is a key leadership role that focuses on the commercial aspect of the project. Reporting to the Project Director you will take the lead in ensuring that the projects financial position is agreeable, suggesting / implementing changes where required.
Your remit will add value to the project for both YVW and Ventia through proactive involvement in the management of procurement, cost management, cash management, incentives and reporting of the project.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will be a strategist with excellent stakeholder engagement skills, strong business acumen and an eye for detail. You will have the ability to confidently negotiate, influence and lead from the front while building lasting internal and external business relationships.
The ideal candidate will be accountable, act decisively and not be afraid to challenge the status quo.
Essential and preferred skills include:
- Formal qualifications in Quantity Surveying (preferred), Commerce, Engineering, Construction, and /or a Legal Degree
- Preferably a Member Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors(MRICS) or Associate Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors
- 15+ years post graduate quantity surveying experience in the construction industry preferred
- 10+ years’ industry experience as a commercial manager with experience in negotiating and managing large contracts
- Experience in leading a commercial team of quantity surveyors and/or contract administrators on a major project essential
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence at all levels essential
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team essential
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with demonstrated negotiation and analytical skills are critical.
