We are seeking an experienced Workplace Health & Safety Coordinator to undertake a fulltime employment opportunity located at our Mayfield West office. Reporting to the National WHS&E Manager, this exciting and varied role will be responsible for establishing HSE / WHS procedures and implementing programs to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for our staff and contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse safety problems and recommend solutions.
  • Maintain records of all injuries and illnesses occurring at the work place in accordance with legislative requirements and provide statistical summaries of these records.
  • Administer, Inspect, monitor and evaluate the business safety programs for value and effectiveness.
  • Participate in investigations of site events utilising root cause analysis.
  • Survey, evaluate, investigate and gather information that will address inadequacies concerning safety, health and environmental matters.
  • Research and assist in the development of safety polices relating to a specific site, or at a corporate level.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable rules and regulations including government regulations, standards and policies.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections, monitoring and analysis of work areas.
  • Prepare and maintain reports and documentation concerning the aspects of Work, Health and Safety (WHS) management.
  • Maintain knowledge of safety policies and procedures to enable the performance of assigned duties in a safe manner.
  • Coach and mentor operation functions to achieve best WHS practices.
  • Work in unison with the HR department to ensure best outcomes for injury management and return to work processes.
  • Deliver specific WHS awareness sessions ensuring communication and consultation requirements are met.

About you:

In addition to having extensive WHS experience within a blue-collar environment, you will be a self starter with a positive, can-do approach. You will have the ability to prepare comprehensive analytical reports and have a sound understanding of Work, Health and Safety legislation.

You will also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety or equivalent
  • Experience in Root Cause Analysis investigation methodologies (desirable)
  • Experience in the preparation of return to work plans (desirable)
