Based in Inner West of Sydney, a local council has engaged our services to assist in the temporary employment of a Planning Officer. The Planning Officer will need experience in the assessment of multi story residential/mixed commercial and residential developments in NSW.
The ideal candidate will have experience liaising with local government, and have current knowledge of building and town planning practices particularly in relation to development applications.
Responsibilities
- Assess a range of development applications
- Carry out site inspection when required
- Prepare associated reports
- Ensure that all legislative and statutory requirements are correct
- Ensure that development applications are processed accordingly
- Provide advice and information to relevant stakeholders
- Liaise with the relevant Government Departments on planning matters
Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or equivalent
- Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with relevant stakeholders
- Skills and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team
- Ability to work cooperatively with other Departments
- Ability to present accurate, clear, concise and timely reports
- Ability to implement new planning concepts and procedures
- Possess good negotiation and conflict resolution skills
