Our Client are a Tier One Integrated construction company who have an urgent need for an experienced Contracts Manager / Contracts Administrator /Quantity Surveyor to assist with procurement of subcontractors etc. On a major Rail Station Upgrade Programme in the Melbourne Metro area.
This role is primarily responsible for implementing effective commercial practices as well as managing head contract and sub-contract documentation, project legal requirements and obligations as well as management of all cost reporting and forecasting.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Ensuring understanding and compliance of all relevant staff in regard to commercial requirements, policies, procedures and guidelines
- Supporting the Pre-contract commercial process for Rail Services including the undertaking contract reviews, and project and contract risk assessments.
- Interpreting tenders and applying commercial contractual agreement as per Security of Payments Act
- Managing commercial issues and contract disputes when delegated by senior management
- Assisting contract administrators and project managers with commercial matters including claims, contractual issues, disputes and preparing sub contract terms and conditions
- Assess subcontractor variations and progress claims
- Establish & maintain a register of approved sub-contractors
- Administering and managing procurement processes for all sub contract and supply agreements
- Interpreting and applying relevant legislation to prevent potential business exposure
- Overseeing calling of quotations and letting of tenders for contracts
- Negotiating contract terms and conditions
- Overseeing the preparation of monthly progress claims and financial reporting
- Overseeing monthly financial reporting including forecasting, cost, claims and accruals for the Project with the engineering and administration teams
To be successful in this key role, you must have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Law, Commerce, Accounting, Quantity Surveying or other relevant discipline
- 5-10 years relevant commercial and contractual experience ideally within construction, engineering, rail or adjacent industry sector
- Exposure to a variety of project and contract structures
- Demonstrated experience in negotiation of contract terms, variations and progress claims
- Demonstrated application of Corporate Limits of Liabilities and contractual and commercial systems, processes and procedures
- Ability to effectively manage a small team of direct reports
- Proven ability to communicate effectively to drive positive outcomes with key stakeholders
- Strong relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills
