Site Safety Officer
Construction

Vestas is currently looking to recruit Site Safety Officers across various locations in Australia, responsible for planning and execution of all quality, safety and environmental policies and procedures in accordance with Vestas', our clients’ and legislative requirements to ensure compliance is achieved throughout the life-cycle of the construction project.
 
These roles are site based across various sites in Victoria, Queensland, Tasmania & New South Wales and report to the Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct, co-ordinate all Quality, Health and safety and environmental training of all site based personnel.
  • Lead, participate and ensure all information concerning Quality, Safety and environment is communicated to relevant personnel, and any matter concerning the same raised by employees is addressed immediately.
  • Integrate environmental issues into site inductions, training and ongoing workplace communication procedures.
  • Ensure site environmental statistics are recorded and available.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction in relation to all QSE matters and understand customer needs and suggest strategies for meeting those needs and make recommendations to the Site Manager where relevant to Quality, Safety and Environment.
  • Meet the clients wind farm safety, quality and environment expectations as required by contract and as advised by the Site Manager.
  • Coordinate the review and maintenance of site specific safety procedures and instructions.
  • Conduct safety check and inspections on site at required frequencies and participate in site safety walks as required.
  • Ensure procedures of reporting od hazards and risks have been implemented and used on the construction site.
  • Review work practices on site to uncover potential hazards and initiate recommendations for safe working environment.
  •  Ensures internal systems are relevant and supports Vestas and Client's construction and reporting requirements.
 
Qualifications
  • Degree or Diploma in OH & S or equivalent
  • Workplace Level 2 (as a minimum)- senior first aid is essential.
  • Current white card or equivalent for the construction industry required
Competencies
  • Demonstrated experience working in OH & S in a construction or heavy engineering environment.
  • Experience working in remote site locations
  • Experience working on a wind farm construction project will be viewed favourably
  • Proven exposure to Quality and risk assessments and evaluations.
  • Experience in high pressure situations in a high-risk construction environment
