About the business and the role
Calco is a long established manufacturer of prefabricated trusses and wall frames based in South Geelong. We also sell timber, decking, cladding and structural ancill items.
The role of a wallframe detailer is to provide designs to the production area that allow for efficiency of product and minimisation of material to the building code
Job tasks and responsibilities
-To receive and assess plans in preparation of the detailing to ensure all required information is at hand
- To ensure that the details are code compliant whilst minimising the costs of the design and providing an efficient method for the manufacturing process
To liaise with clients, sales and production staff when necessary to provide information during the process
Skills and experience
Required skills include
- An in depth knowledge of construction methods via education, training or gained trade skills
- Sound computer skills as all work is completed on design type software - a knowledge of CAD or alike type software an advantage
- An efficiency mindset to discover alternative methods of detailing to minimize costs
- Able to maintain focus on the task at hand, get through work correctly and quickly and work to schedules
- A strong attention to detail, a like for working with numbers and satisfaction gained by getting it right.
- A history is sticking at it, particularly in the learning process
For a beginner or someone not experienced, training will be provided by highly skilled people in their field. We like to bring people into the business that demonstrate a willingness to listen and learn
So if you have
- experience as a detailer in a previous role
- an understanding of design software via Uni, school or a course
- practical experience as a carpenter, construction person etc
