The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Corporate Accountant - Reporting to lead the preparation and review of half year and year end statutory accounts, oversee the timely and accurate reporting of Group financial transactions and to ensure integrity of consolidated Group results.

The role of Senior Corporate Accountant - Reporting is part of the Accounting department and reports to the Group Accounting Manager with responsibility for:

  • Ensuring timely and accurate financial information is provided enabling reporting of Beach’s results to senior management, the executive team and the Board. This includes the compilation and review of monthly reconciliation files and review of consolidated monthly results for consistency and accuracy.
  • Overseeing the maintenance and reconciliation of corporate balances, including accruals, prepayments and investments.
  • Ensuring all corporate eliminations are correctly processed and reviewed, and the accurate maintenance of the elimination entries summary.
  • Leading the preparation and review of half year and year end statutory accounts including timetables, and preparation of supporting documents for presentation to the Board, audit committee and auditors.
  • Managing the preparation of annual subsidiary company and overseas accounts and ensuring Beach meets any other overseas requirements for international operations.
  • Developing and maintaining cost recovery model, including periodic true-up and responding to JV partner, audit and other queries.
  • Managing the time sheet process, including the review of current processes and the maintenance of charge out rates.
  • Providing cost centre reports to cost centre managers and providing analysis and reviews as required.
  • Preparation of corporate cost budgets, quarterly forecasts, 5 year plans in conjunction with cost centre managers.
  • Managing and reviewing corporate assets and consolidated fixed asset schedules.
  • Managing the intercompany loan and investment provisioning process.
  • Providing corporate sustainability information as required.
  • Overseeing the completion of all ABS and other surveys as required.
  • Leading direct reports to ensure they are working efficiently and that opportunities for growth and development are available to all team members.

Essential selection criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting/commerce.
  • Completion of CA or CPA.
  • Proven experience in a senior accounting role.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills across all levels of the organisation.
  • The ability to apply a high level of accuracy and attention to detail to work.
  • The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office.

Desirable selection criteria

  • Oil and gas industry experience.
  • Previous experience using SAP.
  • Reporting experience for a large complex Group.
