St John's Catholic College (SJCC) is a Catholic Coeducational Day and Residential College catering for students in Years 7-12.  The SJCC is located on two campuses, Chevalier and Hartzer at 10-54 Salonika St, The Gardens, NT 0820.

 

About the role

Key Responsibilities

Financial and Payroll

  • Prepare Letters of Appointment, maintaining Personal Record Files of staff, scanning and archiving.
  • Be up-to-date on industrial awards (Enterprise Bargaining Agreement), regulations and other conditions of all persons employed by the College. 
  • Be responsible for processing all salary and wage payments, worker compensation claims and to keep records of sick leave, long service leave, superannuation and other conditions of service.  Arrange relevant taxation records and returns.
  • Draft Financial letters and grant application and acquittal documents
  • Manage Petty Cash, credit card reconciliation, bank reconciliation and monthly financial reporting.
  • Process End of month and year end processes under direction of business manager
  • Coordinate and manage the staff and student Uniform purchase. And work with Enrolment officer on Back to School Vouchers, other vouchers and grants.
  • Process all debtors and invoicing
  • Check all batches and close the batches
  • Process and secure monies received daily, including banking monies and cheques once a week

 

School Fees and Students Records

  • Issue Fee Accounts (Term billings) to all families for school fees and maintain family accounts, follow up outstanding monies
  • Process and maintain data entry of Abstudy Claims for Indigenous students through Centrelink. Oversee and follow-up Abstudy claims for Indigenous students through Centrelink
  • Set up, process and maintain new student enrolments/exits and enter data (including fee schedule).
  • Preparation of Census data for students
  • Process invoices for student expenses (excursions, uniforms, books etc)
  • Maintain student and family records

Benefits and perks

This is a full time (1.0 FTE) continuing position at Level 4. The remuneration package of $67,273 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 9.5%, plus 6 weeks of annual leave will be offered.

Skills and experience

Essential

  1. Accounting qualification or substantial experience as finance officer, with working knowledge of Maze or similar accounting system.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines when necessary, with attention to details
  3. Advanced computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word and highly developed organisational skills and good record keeping
  4. Demonstrated ability to use initiative and work with limited supervision and complete confidentiality

 

Desirable

  1. Accounting Qualification – Bachelor and payroll experience will be highly desirable
  2. Knowledge of Abstudy and experience of interaction with Centrelink for students' fees
  3. Working knowledge of general office equipment and administration.
