Legal Practice Board

Full Time - permanent

The Legal Practice Board (Board) is seeking to appoint a Trust Account Inspector, to join our busy and friendly team in the CBD.

The Board is constituted under the Legal Profession Act 2008. The Board has statutory responsibility for the regulation of legal practice in Western Australia, including the granting and renewal of local practising certificates, and the discipline of legal practitioners through the Legal Profession Complaints Committee.

The position available is Trust Account Inspector, full time permanent.

This is a key position at the Board, in a small team conducting trust and other account analysis, compliance inspections and investigations and provides advice to practitioners, auditors, and the Board, and delivers educational information seminars to legal and financial professionals.

The successful applicant has a tertiary degree in Accounting and membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia or the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants, and a minimum of two years practice / compliance experience.

The successful applicant will have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and good organisational skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with legal and financial professionals and report on complex financial, accounting or legal practices.

The successful applicant will also have strong research, analytical and conceptual skills with an ability to interpret and apply legislation. A good understanding of conveyancing transactions, deceased estate administrations and the litigation process will be highly advantageous. Experience in developing and delivering educational seminars is desirable.

Starting salary is $100,966.00 plus 9.5% superannuation.
