A Subject Matter Expert is required to provide technical accounting advice and develop accounting policies to inform and guide the business to comply with Australian Accounting Standards.

 Key responsibilities:

• Research and develop business-wide accounting policies and provide advice and guidance to departments within the business to promote consistent application and compliance.
• Provide rigorous analysis of new and complex transactions to develop standards, policies and systems which ensure compliance and effective financial management.
• Assist with providing technical accounting advice on a range of complex areas to senior executives across the business to enable them to manage their functions in an effective and compliant manner.
• Assist with implementing new and upcoming accounting standards, including preparing training materials and presenting on new and existing accounting standards to all levels of management to enhance knowledge and skills and improve compliance.
• Provide timely accounting advice which responds to business needs.
• Develop accounting policies and communicate technical accounting concepts to a range of audience across the business to promote compliance with Australian Accounting Standards.
• Working effectively with customers across the business to provide value added service including partnering diverse clients with complex business needs in their dealings with and resolution of accounting policy issues.

Key Requirements:

• Membership of a relevant professional association such as Institute of Chartered Accountants or Certified Professional Accountants.
• Extensive knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, and the ability to research and analyse complex accounting issues.
• Demonstrated experience providing accounting advice in a complex organisation, environment, or industry (e.g. Big 4, Public Sector)
