About the Role? 

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Financial Accountant to join the team. 

As the Group Senior Financial Accountant you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reporting of financial information to senior management and external stakeholders together with analytics on the Bank’s performance against peers and market expectations. This is combined with managing the day to day operational requirements of the finance function. 

Key responsibilities of this role:

  • Key contact for credit accounting and liaising with relevant stakeholders within the business for asset quality reporting
  • Responsible for commentary and information relating to asset quality (internal and external)
  • Responsible for assisting with the preparation of the Group’s Half Year and Full Year statutory and finance audit reporting
  • Analysis of any new accounting standards and impact on the Group’s statutory reporting and consultation with Group’s external auditors
  • Ensure the timely completion of the BOQ Group’s month end finance process including reviewing the Group’s monthly Profit and Loss and balance sheet for accuracy and completeness
  • Responsible for part of the Group’s financial reporting to external stakeholders and the preparation of reporting packs internally (eg: Audit committee)
  • Responsible for the preparation and management of monthly internal group reporting packs at Group Executive and Board of Directors level
  • Review reconciliations in line with the monthly timetable
  • Responsible for preparation of position papers / policies on Accounting Standards and analysing impact to the Group

 

About you and what will set you apart? 

To be successful in this role you will have strong financial reporting experience. Further, your skills, knowledge and experience:

  • CPA / ICAA qualified (or equivalent Accounting qualification)
  • 9 years+ accounting experience
  • Previous proven experience in an accounting / financial reporting role
  • Experience working with computerised systems is essential
  • Previous proven accounting standards technical skills
  • Previous Audit and Board paper writing skills
  • Ability to report and work directly with other Senior staff
  • Consistent ability to meet deadlines without supervision from management.
  • High standard to attention to detail
  • Management of staff
