Inventory Accountant
Navy Canteens, a not for profit and corporate Commonwealth entity, operating food and beverage operations at Naval establishments throughout Australia. Other than operating canteens, cafes and bars. Navy Canteens operates three holiday parks, an online merchandise store and an entertainment ticketing service.
We are currently looking for an experienced and professional Inventory Accountant to join our team based at Campbell Park Offices in Canberra.
At the direction of the CFO you will assist in the financial management of Navy Canteens operations, with particular focus on technical standards, reporting and analysis, stock control, compliance, and key stakeholder relationships.
- Maintaining an accurate stock control system.
- Remote management of the Pos Systems.
- Management of the supply chain, including procurement, inventory management and supplier recommendations.
- Co-ordination and management of stocktakes Australia wide, including the follow up on stock discrepancies and variances.
- Monthly reporting including analysis reports and pricing recommendations.
- Assistance in month end and financial year closure including preparation of working papers and reconciliations.
- Assisting in the improvement in internal controls related to inventory.
- Verifying accurate standard costs.
- Monitoring inventory transactions including reconciling positions sites.
- Preparing monthly journal entries as needed.
- Maintenance of effective relationships with relevant business partners.
Requirements:
- Qualification with 3 years experience within government is preferred with experience using CBMS.
Selection Criteria:
- Developed financial/management accounting background
- Strong analytical skills with a detail-oriented approach
- A flexible and pro-active attitude, and demonstrated initiative in achieving assigned goals as the role grows with the business
- Strong financial modelling and Excel skills
- Clear and concise communication skills, using judgement and discretion, and the ability to communicate with people at various levels
- Strong organisation and workload management skills, including the ability to prioritise work and reprioritise when necessary to adapt to constant (and often conflicting) demands
Due to security requirements the successful applicant will need to be an Australian Citizen or Resident, and be able to obtain a Defence Baseline Security Clearance. Salary to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
