About This Role

This is a key leadership role as a member of the Senior Management Team, reporting directly to the CEO.   You will be involved in all financial aspects of the business, to take the business through its present growth period, enjoying emerging business opportunities and taking the company to a sustainable future.

You will bring excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills leading the finance team, and will play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of financial budgets and plans for the CEO and Senior Management Team. In addition you will act as a trusted advisor to these key stakeholders by overseeing all fiscal responsibilities for the organisation and evaluating and assisting with key business planning initiatives. Driving best practice across financial management, systems and processes will also be included in your area of responsibility.

The Financial Controller is responsible and accountable for:

• Leading financial negotiations with our financiers;
• Leading and managing the finance team;
• Providing leadership across and overseeing all finance and commercial aspects of the business, including:

• Managing the statutory reporting requirements;
• Managing the annual budget and forecast process, and performance reporting of business units, including management reports;
• Provide 3 way forecasting;
• Providing day to day commercial support to management across the business.

• Assist in the development and negotiation of contracts.
• Assist the CEO in identifying new funding opportunities, the drafting of prospective programmatic budgets, and determining cost effectiveness of prospective service delivery.
• Oversee all purchasing and payroll activity for employees.
• Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organisation.
• Ensure adequate cash flow to meet the organisation's needs.

The Ideal Candidate

With a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, CA/CPA membership and a minimum 10 years’ experience as a Finance Manager, you will have high level skills and experience in the provision of business financials.  With strong commercial acumen, you have the ability to:

• Create and assess financial statements and budget documents
• Develop financial models
• Advise and establish pricing strategies required for success in a competitive environment
• Identify and analyse current financial trends and identify opportunities for federal/state funding or grants
• Prioritise work, meet deadlines and work accurately under conflicting time pressures.
• Lateral thinker who takes initiative in problem solving
• Experience in a manufacturing environment will be highly regarded or any high transaction business.

You will have extensive experience in the areas of financial accounting and management, tax, and business processes, together with superior written, verbal and negotiation skills. You must be versatile, resilient and commercially astute with strong leadership skills, outstanding communication abilities, strong attention to detail and proven analytical and business acumen.
