Finance Manager (2IC to the Financial Controller)

The Role;
We have been exclusively engaged by one of Sydney’s leading utility organisations to recruit an exciting newly created role in their dynamic finance team. Working closely with the Financial Controller and the CFO this role will act as the 2IC to the Financial Controller and will take ownership of financial & management reporting, strategic risk management and compliance, financial accounting and financial Analysis.
Assisting in managing all aspects of accounting and finance functions, your key duties will include but not be limited to the following;
• Maintenance of the financial and operational model which includes developing the model as a key forecasting tool. Managing future cash needs and resources to maximise the returns to the shareholders
• Assisting with Company Secretarial duties
• Input into the company’s strategic risk management register
• Preparation/ analysis of the annual budget & Forecasts
• Treasury management and involvement in debt management
• Managing regulatory financial requirements
• Preparation of Board and Audit, Risk and Compliance committee papers
• Managing and optimising the Company’s cash balances
• Analyse KPI reporting and prepare business cases when necessary
• Assist in the coordination of Board meetings
• Preparing semi-annually the valuation of the equity investment & producing Board Reports to set out key findings and changes
• Developing and maintaining company Policy compliance and compliance with SDP’s key strategic contracts
• Tax risk management and tax compliance
• Assist in managing the risk profile of the company via strategic input in to the Company’s Risk register and strategic risk discussions
• Prepare statutory reports for multiple Entities & FBT calculation annually
• Liaise with the external auditors, overseeing the year-end financial statement audit
• Lead month-end close process, including preparation and review of management reports
• Cash flow reporting and preparation of bank reconciliations
• Preparation of fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules
• Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
• Providing ad hoc support to management when required
• Overseeing accounting activities across SDP.
The ideal candidate;
• CA, CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA Qualified or equivalent.
• Broad experience in accounting and a solid understanding of financial principals
• Proficient in financial modelling and financial model development
• Comfortable communicating with and able to influence key stakeholder at all levels
• Excellent organisation skills and have the ability to prioritise and deliver key reporting / projects to agreed timeframes especially when there are conflicting deadlines.
• Highly skilled in verbal presentation written business communication
• Strong attention to detail but has the ability to deal with the big picture as well
• High level energy, commitment, flexibility and a positive can do attitude.
• Previous MYOB experience would be an advantage
