Our client, a household name in the energy sector is currently seeking a Head of Risk & Compliance to lead the risk function and actively improve the risk culture through raising awareness and understanding throughout the organisation. This is a key influencing role supporting the Board, the Executive Leadership team and other senior leaders through the provision of advice and education.
Due to recent organisational change, our client has restructured their corporate team creating a new level of risk leadership within the business. In this position, you will report directly into the EGM Corporate Services and be responsible for supporting the development, implementation and monitoring of compliance and risk strategies. The organisation’s Senior Leadership Team has identified Risk as a key area to support the expansion, and the purpose of this role will be to enhance engagement throughout the business.
More specifically your role will encompass
- Hands on implementation of an enterprise risk framework to identify, assess and monitor financial, operational and compliance risks;
- Management of a small team of risk / compliance advisors;
- Provision of strategic reporting and advice to the Board;
- Design of an Enterprise Business Continuity Framework;
- Design and manage the corporate insurance program;
- Development of strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation’s operations and corporate divisions including working collaboratively with subject matter experts; and
- Foster an environment of continuous improvement and system enhancements / implementation where necessary.
To be successful in this role you will have tertiary qualifications in commerce / risk / business or a related area and relevant significant experience in a large complex business, preferably in the energy, industrial or government sectors. You will be a strategic thinker, have the ability to identify opportunities for improvement in risk management processes and at times challenge the status quo. You will exhibit strong leadership and mentorship skills as you engage with different levels of staff across the entire company.
