Division Overview

Corporate Services provides ACSL with essential support services and promotes leading business practices. Areas within the Corporate Services business include Strategy and Performance, Human Resource Management, Finance, Business Services, Information and Computer Technology and Assets & Procurement.

Position Overview

The Finance Officer is responsible for data analysis for program productivity, claims and fees reconciliation between funding database and accounting system. Prepares and maintain cash flow forecast for grants and programs expenditures. Prepares both internal and external billings to funding bodies and assures prompt collection. Allocates and verifies program expenditures with related budget and funding contracts. 

This is a casual position, working 38 hours per week (Monday to Friday).



Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing financial models and perform data analysis to ensure data integrity in client database with accounting system to ensure the accuracy and compliance of claims and fees charged to various Funding Department in timely manner;
  • Assist in preparation and timely submission of acquittal reports as per grant agreement requirements;
  • Prepares grant related invoices both external and internal. Sends monthly statements and follows up on collection of outstanding grants due;
  • Preparation of monthly program financial reports to the relevant program Managers;
  • Assist in investigate project variances and reports to the Finance Manager;
  • Maintain appropriate accounting records and reporting in accordance with Funding and Service Agreement requirements, Service Excellence Program requirements and Industrial Legislation requirements;
  • Assists with Finance Manager with the preparation of budget and cash flow forecasting in relation to designated grants area;
  • Coding and verifying program-related purchases against budget to ensure accurate cost allocation;
  • Assist in month-end, year-end reconciliations in relation to the designated accounts and programs;
  • Staff support – Assist with finance team members as needed;
  • Ad hoc duties may be assigned as required;
  • Other tasks as requested by the Supervisor/Manager.


To be successful you must possess (selection criteria)

  • Current Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance with over 3 years of financial accounting experience;
  • Advanced experience in Excel is essential. Demonstrated skills in data validation and data reconciliation techniques;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to connect detail to its context and analytic approaches;
  • Knowledge and prior experience relating to not-for-profit organization financial reporting and funding acquittals;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen customer focus;
  • Ability to work independently with good time management skills;
  • Ability to perform well in a team environment.

Other Requirements

  • Current Driver’s License;
  • Rights to work in Australia.
