Jobs Australia is the national peak body which assists not-for-profit employment and community services throughout Australia to provide the best possible assistance to disadvantaged communities and people. Jobs Australia is solely funded by members and advocates to government and other relevant bodies on a national level on their behalf. Members range from small, local charities to some of the nation’s largest and most recognisable not-for-profits. Due to a recent period of change, they are looking to appoint a new CEO, based in Melbourne.
Description
Reporting to the Chair and the Board, this role will look to build upon a current change agenda internally for Jobs Australia while also looking to lead the body nationally in representing and supporting its members. Specifically, the CEO will:
• Represent the views of the sector as a thought leader in delivering this voice to Government, National bodies and related third party interests aligned to the Jobs Australia agenda.
• Lead, develop and implement the strategic plan for Jobs Australia.
• Facilitate meaningful member engagement to influence government policy and advocate on behalf of the diverse needs of the not-for-profit sector.
• Provide leadership and coaching, as well as overall development, to Jobs Australia and create high performing teams to achieve the goals of its members
• Lead and manage all operational aspects of Jobs Australia, across revenue, finances, operations, marketing, people and culture, as well as any key organisational aspects relevant to the overall success and growth of Jobs Australia.
Profile
This critical appointment will require outstanding communication skills and a desire to be hands on, while managing a diverse and high paced workflow and an ability to align Jobs Australia to a strategic vision. Relevant backgrounds may include:
• Extensive experience in peak body or member related environments or in a similar, multi-disciplinary organisation, with significant leadership and executive experience within these sectors.
• The ability to represent and articulate the diverse needs and opinions of member organisations to influence policy platforms and service design.
• To engage with all forms of media to raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities our members experience, with a social change agenda.
• Proven experience to execute significant leadership and change management roles, with an ability to mentor and train staff to adapt to a new environment and build a centre of excellence culture within a small and diverse team.
• Experience at a senior level engaging with senior government stakeholders including, Ministers, and senior government officials across numerous portfolios.
• A highly competent executive with the ability to demonstrate results across change strategies and an ability to influence at all levels will be essential in being successful in this role.
