Lead a dedicated team of employees and volunteers

South Port Day Links and its dedicated team of support staff and approximately 100 dedicated volunteers, provide services that ensure those members within the community who need assistance due to age or disability restrictions, can gain access to social, medical and allied health services. Through programs including transport assistance, pet care and basic gardening services the organisation allows clients within the Port Phillip precinct to be supported while living at home, to keep in touch with their community, and to maintain independence. The team at South Port Day Links are committed to enhancing the quality of life for the people it supports within the local community.

The successful applicant will provide hands on leadership and support in the areas of; resource management, budget and capital management, donor and partnership development, volunteer engagement, and the coordinated delivery of client support programs. They will ensure strong, open and regular communication between the organisation and the Committee of Management, SPDL clients, partners, donors and volunteers, and look to identify and secure funding, partnership and fundraising opportunities. As the General Manager they will be required to ensure all legal, statutory and policy compliance obligations are met and understood by employees and volunteers, while looking to continue to enhance and drive organisational effectiveness, reporting, business processes and organisational planning. Importantly they will identify with the organisation’s values and be genuine in their willingness to improve the lives of those they support and serve within the community.

Key selection criteria;

  • Experience working at a General Management level in leading a small team and ready to take on a CEO role while willing to roll up their sleeves as required
  • Strategic planning and thinking skills
  • A proven ability to build and drive a positive organisational culture
  • Strong financial acumen and budgeting skills
  • An understanding of corporate governance and reporting
  • Ability to build strong relationships and excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Understanding of funding models including the Commonwealth Government’s My Aged Care program will be viewed highly
  • Experience pursuing and gaining local, state and federal grant funding opportunities as well as fundraising experience
  •  Knowledge of the Microsoft suite of products
  • Solid IT and systems management skills
  • Strong time management and planning skills
  • High levels of initiative and problem solving skills
  • Experience working with a board, in the not for profit or aged care sector will be viewed highly
  • A current unrestricted drivers licence
