Business Development Manager

About the Role

Reporting into the General Manager of Sales, Marketing and Services, this role plays an integral role in the continued growth of sales revenue to fund the sustainability of St John NSW programs in the community.  The Business Development Manager will work with some or all of the following industry NSW sectors; state and local government, mining, professional services, emergency services and agriculture.  The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering service excellence and have some knowledge of working in a growing and vibrant not-for-profit organisation.

Key challenges within this role will include:

  • Actively prospect within the Business Development function to win new customers  
  • Assist in identifying future strategic initiatives for the business and identifying new business opportunities
  • Build and transition relationships effectively with senior executives in both large public and private sector customers
  • Participate in major opportunities and negotiations
  • Prepare materials and deliver seminars/presentations/proposals/tenders
  • Assist with key ongoing customer relationships through ongoing projects
  • Support the General Manager Sales and Marketing to identify, scope and implement cross-group initiatives
  • Conduct market intelligence to build profile of competitors, customers and other information pertinent to securing and servicing new clients

 

Our Ideal Candidate will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification, and/or 5-10 years commercial experience, with proven successful experience in business development
  • Advanced skills and experience in researching, managing and producing high quality submissions and tenders
  • Evidence of achieving and exceeding sales targets
  • Experience in the government, mining, emergency services or agricultural sectors would be an advantage
  • Demonstrated ability in time management and prioritising tasks
  • Natural ability to lead, motivate and work within a team, as well as operate with autonomy
  • Excellent understanding and experience in developing strong customer relationships and converting to new business
  • Opportunity driven with the ability to shine in  a "can do" culture
  • A genuine passion to deliver first aid and life enhancing programs to the NSW community
