We are seeking a highly motivated Product Specialist who thrives on pursuing and winning new business.
Focusing on the materials science portfolio, the Product Specialist is responsible for identifying new opportunities, educating and developing the customer base whilst also being the technical expert; able to train, install and troubleshoot relevant equipment.
Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities and drive growth of the Sample Preparation & Characterisation (Materials Science) portfolio within Australia.
- Working closely with the Product Manager generate demand for the assigned product portfolio and the greater Thermo Fisher Scientific value proposition
- Educate, connect and develop the customer base
- Ensure feedback including win/loss reasons, competitor intelligence and market knowledge is provided to the Product Management and broader sales teams
- Gain a strong understanding of the customer's requirements and application needs on a technical level, to ensure the most suitable solution is proposed
- Commission, install and train on product where relevant to maximise customer satisfaction and promoter score
- Resolve customer technical issues post-sale promptly and courteously
- Conduct product demonstrations, seminars and participate in customer engagement activities as required to support the growth strategy
- Close liaison with the Account Management team to work hand-in-hand on more specialised or larger opportunities
- Attend training events as required (occasional overseas travel)
- Maintain an accurate opportunity pipeline for all assigned products using the CRM platform salesforce.com
- Diligently maintain a record of customer visits and interactions using salesforce.com
Requirements:
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven results in a fast-paced sales environment with med-high value capital equipment AND/OR
- Formal scientific qualifications in a relevant discipline or relevant industry experience
- High level of familiarity and competence in computer use; specifically the Microsoft Office suite of applications – Excel, Word, Power point and Outlook
