As a Senior Manager of Business Development at Australian Turf Club you will be responsible for instigating and managing sales initiatives for race day events, functions and hospitality. Forming part of the Sales team you will have the opportunity to target new business, develop account management plans and implement relationship optimisation strategies.

 

The role in more detail…

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Involvement in the planning and coordination of the race day sales programs, promotional campaigns, events and initiatives
  • Actively seeking and approaching new clients
  • Management of the existing client portfolio allocated by the Head of Sales - forge solid business relationships and encourage repeat hospitality and event bookings
  • Ongoing procurement, management and negotiation with key accounts, corporate partners and third party operators, strengthening and leveraging relationships
  • Conducting financial analysis pre/post-race day - Implementation of appropriate strategies to mitigate risks, resolve issues and improve revenue performance
  • Preparation of event bookings including quotations, confirmation letters, payment requests, contracts and WH&S documentation for clients as required
  • Management and mentoring of the Race Days Sales Team

 

To be successful in the role...

You will bring with you:

  • Previous experience in a business development role within the hospitality, events, entertainment, tourism and/or leisure and recreation industries
  • Demonstrated skills in identifying and winning new accounts and developing and/or retaining existing accounts
  • Problem solving and analytical skills combined with sound commercial acumen and in-depth understanding of business planning, budgeting and financial analysis
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills – effectively influence and persuade clients at all levels
  • Tertiary Qualifications in commerce, hospitality/tourism/leisure, marketing and/or communications combined with moderate post-qualification field experience in sales roles
  • RSA is a must; RCG is desirable
